'If ...' - by David Wilding

If ...
By David Wilding (9th January 2010)

If you can think when others dream
Get done what others only plan
If you can go where others just discuss
Find what they can only seek
If thought is what they cannot
Or actions louder than ALL their words

When push comes to shove
Your defences up unlike theirs
They sleep while you are awake with wideness
And their sorrow is NEVER your pain

Can your logic out-think madness?
Can you assume what is not?
Do you want what you cannot have?
And need what you have not?

If all this, and still you rise,
You will surely be
A MAN, my son!
