'Empty Chair' - by David Wilding
Empty Chair
by David Wilding (mid 2005 or early 2006)
The chair by the TV
No-one there
The books you loved reading
Lying bare
No contact, no sound
No greeting from there
That house is just empty now
'Cos you are not there
Empty is never
There's too many years
The good times, the memories
The laughter and tears
This poem goes nowhere
It's run all its course
It's harder for writing
When gone is the source

'If ...' - by David Wilding
- If you can think when others dream Get done what others only plan If you can go where others just discuss Find what they can only seek If thought is what they cannot Or actions louder than ALL their words When push comes to shove Your defences up unlike theirs ....
'Temptation' - by David Wilding
- I know by now, Such places are wrong - they make no sense, Looking at what you can't have, And then thinking too much, Of what you'd like to do, To them. They see me? I look, they look away, It's too red, too bright, And they speak a foreign tongue. ....
'Downhill' - by David Wilding
- How long have I got now? And until what? At least one night At most another thirty years .... If I get there. Where do I go now? What will I do now? When I can't feed them, Can't feed myself, When winter freezes over And bills pile in ....
