'Doom, Gloom and Dragons' - by David Wilding

Doom, Gloom and Dragons
by David Wilding (21st January 2009)

Doom, gloom and reality.
Two out of three ARE bad!
Don't listen to HIM!!
Cos it's here now.

Wednesday night,
No news night,
Those two friends settling in,
Getting comfy,
Putting up their feet,
Cigars and caviar are out,
Politics discussed,
Roaring fire.

Get the HELL OUT!
It shouldn't be like this.
Wasn't to be this way,
My dream is gone!
Is it?? NOOOOO!
I HAVE to believe it will come,
Cos if not,
I only see the darkness and noise,
Of a new eternity,
And hellfire,
Of an old life.
Down below,
It waits,
Chase it away! Catch it! Kill it!
Put it down forever!
The fire wins the sword's loss.
The unicorn,
Treads another way, another day,
And the dragon is back to its den.
Don't invest here!
There's no price for you.
My pitch is off,
Go on home!

About the Author:
This one was written in my recent overly-long stay in London while waiting for the 'wheels of bureaucracy' to turn faster to get me out to my new job abroad. An EXTREMELY frustrating time!

David Wilding is an inspired part-time poet who works on inspiration-from-life terms only. He has been writing on and off for the last ten years now - maybe more but only since about 1996 has he put it down on paper (and online). He is also the owner, webmaster and grand overseer of this and many other websites (NOT all poetry-related!).

This poem, and others like it are strictly Copyright  © 2009  David Wilding and may NOT be reprinted in ANY WAY without permission from the author.
